They'll release Rew. I have no doubt about that. Potts, we'll see. They might pull Carse out as well ahead of the ODI's

Connors might well be fit again, so I guess there is a chance we may get to see him in action

You're right. Carse not available and neither is Potts. Bedingham might play if cleared by SA ( explains his absence last week.)
Mitch Killeen in the squad too so the bowling looks flimsy .

And Rew isn't in the ODI squad so you're right about him too.

Don't worry lads, as the press were keen to remind us last week when Archer got injured again, the England setup only has the best interests of the player at heart. Carefully planned management I think the term was. I am sure this wont end with a bowling coach having Carse add 5mph on his pace, his back breaking 2 games later under the strain, and him disappearing to the point you completely forget about him, only for him to return 4 years later a totally broken man.

Carefully planned management. Interesting how that took the form of not allowing him to play in any English cricket for 5 years, but it was ok for him to bowl 99mph all out firepower spells in the IPL.

Just switched onto this. 194-6... Hmm

not sure about that. Nowt for Bedders, first baller for Lees (does that a lot.... I wonder if he chopped it on again?)

rare failure for Clark, but a welcome fifty for Robbo. Starts for McK and Gay

we are being Henry'd again, but our attack looks threadbare. 4 man attack, no spinner and 2 of the 4 seamers are kids. Jeez.... Ben Raine has a lot of work ahead of him. Somerset, on the other hand, have a snarling quick, the very handy Davey, the old warhorse Overton along with Pretorius, plus a hugely experienced spin option in Jack Leach

Just a look at our bowling attack suggests to me that we'd have to do very well to even draw this game. Bare bones ain't in it

Agreed. They have an international attack and it was always going to be very difficult. Just arrived and looks like a good pitch so that doesn't bode well given our inexperienced attack.. And their batting has strength and depth. But apart from all that... pretty evenly matched :lmao

I was listening to Harmy on the 'following on' podcast yesterday and he was obviously delighted with the win over Notts. He thought that forcing a result in a match with a double centurion and 4 other centurions was a credit to the groundsman and his team. Personally I think it was a total credit to our players who managed to grab a win despite a pitch that did absolutely nothing. I thought it was a complete fuckup of a pitch. A greentop that managed to offer no help whatsoever to the bowlers. I think it's obvious that this was supposed to be a spicy pitch to level the sides up, which is why we immediately chose to field when we won the toss, but instead it was as flat as a fart and the game was won by a set of bowlers who refused to submit to the batting paradise and kept patiently chipping away with wickets. Bloody hard yakka if you ask me.

Two wickets in 2 overs. 221/8. Can't see us getting 250!

Agreed. Really poor pitch - 400 in a day and then we broke our FC record. Was far too batter friendly and think it was a remarkable effort by the bowlers. 99 times out of 100 it would have ended as a bore draw and those road pitches are no good for the game.

me neither

I don't think Lees has the hang of this winning the toss thing

last week he chose to bowl and conceded 400 runs on day 1

this week he chose to bat and not only might we not make 250, we might not make it to tea

Excellent last wicket stand from Yusuf and Minto to get us to 250. Personally I'd have had Minto in ahead of Killeen. Surely shouldn't be batting at 11.

Somerset rattled. Dropped catch, boundaries and all of a sudden it's a 50 partnership...but as I type Minto has gone. 277 all out

well... of course!

opens the batting as night watchman and scores 67 one week, number 11 the next. Killeen and Yusuf scratched around for an age and then Minto comes in with a pretty quick fire 34 to secure a batting point. I might have been tempted to bring him in at 8, let alone 9, but 11? :hmmm

lets be generous and say that this decision took other factors into consideration. He won't open the bowling, so Raine gets a rest, but if that was the thinking, Yusuf will and might be tired after running up and down the crease for an hour without a sit down, so that doesn't really wash

Still.... well done the bowlers for cobbling together an unlikely looking batting point
