Pakistan's first few years as a test hosting nation, they didn't have proper pitches and threw down some matting to play on - which made it incredibly difficult for batsman to score. Mohammed wracked up some insane numbers in these first few series at home. Took a lot of wickets in the India v Pakistan series of 54-55.

Still arguably the most bizarre series of all time. Despite the fact neither team made a big score in 5 games, all 5 games were drawn and the series ended 0-0..... both sides were so paranoid of losing to the other, they blocked out mammoth amounts of overs just to not risk losing

Correct

Surely not batting... though Underwood might figure higher for his batting than his fielding.

I had those three!

Instead I'll suggest Chandrasekhar, Gibbs, Peter Pollock.

Again, it depends on the rankings and how they are calculated. Chandrasekar was dropped for years, but famously returned to bowl out England and win India's first series in England in this year. So he might have played 1 or 2 excellent games and nothing else in the period. Bedi also I think features much more as the 70s goes on... Lillie and Willis debut around this time, so they couldnt have played many matches at all, even if they end the decade their best bowlers.

Im going Venkat, Snow and Mike Proctor - the latter might now qualify based on sample size, but my god what a sample size!!

Maybe Bob Massie also. Think he had one year he knocked it out the park then injury go thim.
