Mitch seemed to be sure and hence walked away suggesting a light nick. Umpire then gave out seeing Mitch walking away. The one replay showed gap between bat and pad and bat hitting the pads.

Lead is now 40. New ball still 13 overs away. Hardly surprising that Australia have come back very strongly after losing the first test.

Rishabh Pant didn't even attempt it. Catch chance wasted at it flies for 4 between Rishabh and Rohit at first slip. Poor wicket keeping. Travis Head survives once again.

100 for Travis Head - got two chances after 75, but he had set the match well for Australia before the luck went his way. A match defining innings made after Nathan and Marnus had seen off the new ball. Capitalized on the start. The batting unit have backed the Australian bowling effort very well.

Some success with the new ball but I think this is too far gone for India to come back...the Head innings has just about cooked them. Won't be ideal either that they will have to start their second innings under lights this evening. Starc will fancy it...

That first innings was nowhere near adequate. Starc was good as he always is here ; but even so there was some poor batting yesterday.
