clearly we aren't interested in winning this match with an attack of Hogg, Minto, Holder and Bas

I'm a bit stunned by that, tbh

although I shouldn't be, because the seam bowlers in the 14 man squad comprised Hogg, Holder, Minto, McAlindon and Killeen

Hogg has played 2 matches for us, I think, which probably makes him our senior bowler

maybe we are expecting an awful lot of spin from Parky and Ackers

Holder did drag things back in the second innings last week, but he's going to have to bowl a whole lot better in this match

maybe we're just sanguine about our points tally and our home game against Kent and we're using this purely as a rest and try out game with little worry about points

Going along at 5 an over atm....... this is Burns and Sibley, btw, who normally take a year to compile a century opening stand.... 6 months of which is taken up by Burns tucking his hair back into his helmet after wiping his brow

Holder seems to be destined to feature on the worst overseas signing list. We probably didn't have many options so had to take a punt but, unless he explodes into life tomorrow, he seems to be literally there to make up the numbers.

Absolutely. I'm probably being daft, but where are our entire first choice pace attack? Maybe Holder will blast into action after last time's "warm up". Having said that, the fact that he's fourth choice seam bowler in that attack possibly suggests a different outcome...Pity about Gay's innings - the gamble with bringing him in for two games at the back end of the season is that there's not much to gain, but a bad run may put him under extra pressure from the start next year.

Perhaps we should see if Shaun Tait is available for a comeback in the next game?
