This was after he tried to choke Kai Havertz.... how he wasnt sent off in both cases is a huge failure for VAR...

But as usual, VAR sucks.... that red card in the Newcastle game was a joke

Anyone playing professional football must surely know that if you dip your head into someone's face, however minimal the contact, and he goes down, then you're going to get sent off. The chances of a south American player not going down like a big baby must be virtually nil, I'd have thought..... crikey they get taught how to do it from about the age of 2. He'd have gone down like that if Schar had brushed out a fly caught in his hair. Despite all the provocation, I don't see that Schar can have any complaints. It was a stupid thing for anyone to do, let alone an experienced international player like him. He let himself get mugged off.

Ben Brereton is English, and had never been to South America until he was called.up by Chile.

Funny story that one. Apparently a researcher from the game Football Manager was checking online for Breretons information to put in the game, and found an article where he referenced in an interview a fun fact about him was his grandmother was from Chile. The researcher then listed him in the game as having Chilean second nationality.

After the game came out some Chilean football journalist was playing the game as Chile manager, and was surprised to see some random English guy on the list of possible players. He did some research and released an article about Brereton, and how he was doing well at the time and that Chile should pick him. That article then made its way to the Chile manager, and when they verified it was really true he had grounds for Chilean nationality, offered him a passport and a spot on the team.

He changed his name to Brereton Diaz for the Copa America, taking his mother's name to make him sound more Spanish. When first picked he knew nothing about Chile, spoke no Spanish, and said it was pretty weird. He then did well in the Copa and became a bit of a folk hero in Chile.

There is a spanish documentary about it, which is funny. The journalist in Chile started a social media campaign at one point which went viral, and 100,000s of Chilean football fans were suddenly tuning into Blackburn game's on the clubs official ifollow account to see what the fuss was about. Blackburn didn't know what the hell was going on, because in the space of a couple of weeks they went from 0 people watching games to suddenly 100,000s of people from Chilean IP addresses tuning in, and they consulted the police assuming it was something dodgy connected to a hacking attempt or dodgy betting.

He now has a successful reality show where he travels around Chile to learn about the country in his off time with his mum. Very surreal.

Newcastle have to be content with a draw at Bournemouth. For some reason beating Bournemouth is always a problem. One of 'those' teams, I guess.

Yeah I saw it as the arm, or at least part of it, therefore no goal.

I don't get to watch many live games these days but did take in the Brighton - Utd game. I thought Utd were a tad unlucky but bad, or even terrible defending for both goals was there downfall. Zirkzee receiving criticism from some for allowing Garnacho's shot hit him was for me very harsh. What else could he do to get out of the way?

right at the end. the keeper tried to launch the ball for one last attack and Joelinton pulled him back as the keeper ran past him, but the pull back was high over one shoulder and across at the neck. Keeper spun right around onto the floor, but unlike last week there was nothing simulated or exaggerated about it. Definitely red. Joe knew he was lucky only getting a yellow
