there were a load of wickets that fell on day one of this round. Probably 6 matches where between 15 and 23 wickets fell

What I am absolutely sure of is that the ECB will not treat us any differently to.... oh I don't know..... Yorkshire or Middlesex or Essex, for example

when Lancs last won the title they barely had any matches that went much past 2 days

this was a very odd pitch though. It looked the same colour as the pitch next to it that wasn't being used. Hard to blame it on lack of preparation time just after the only week of settled weather we've had all season

That's what I was thinking. It's not as if the groundsman was thwarted by the weather.

Ominous start by Worcestershire but 65/3 now after a half century opening partnership. Would be ideal to get another before lunch.

I was thinking we'd be in a decent position if we got them 5 down with a hundred or so runs required. We'll the target is approaching double figures but they're still just 3 down. We need to strike quickly.

we could probably have done with a lot less play yesterday. The stop start nature didn't help us at all. In fact we've had by far the worst of the conditions. That Kashif is a jammy beggar, btw. I'll bet he's playing and missing every other ball today. He led a charmed life on Sunday. It was quite astonishing how he got away with it for as long as he did

Yes. Had the worst of things. Damaging defeat with only the bowling points banked. Campbell did say he thought the pitch would flatten out at some stage - so if the surface was down to deliberate preparation, that decision has backfired fairly spectacularly.

Second match on the trot that we've been unable to bowl teams out on the final day of play. I thought it was odd that we left Parky out for Bas. That backfired too. Parky might have been very useful today. My understanding was that we were going to play a spinner in every game. I guess if we make a statement like that we can't really pick and choose when to change our minds.

Life will be harder later in the season for bowlers, so we had to win this match really

Agreed. It was a crucial game and seems to have been some muddled thinking. This attack seems pretty ordinary unless conditions are in their favour and it's going to be tough. Worcestershire hadn't won before this game-:Warwickshire haven't won yet but they might to tomorrow.

Warks have *modded* up and remain winless after Somerset chased down the target that Warks set them when they declared

Fortunate for us that Warks can't buy a win this season or we'd be further down the table than 5th. Only Kent have been cut adrift now that Worcs have their first win of the season. Having seen the pitch we prepared, I can't help but think that we got what we deserved, really

Agreed. Can't do anything about the overhead as but a spicy wicket makes things a lottery. On paper we were much stronger but that pitch negated that.

nor me. I'm too tired thanks to a combination of election night sleep deprivation and a week of looking after my daughter's dog

I haven't even remotely got near your daily step count, but more than the 3 or 4 walks a day, it's also the constant stress of dog in the house high alert or jumping out of my skin when she barks because someone has had the temerity to walk past my house on the street, now what's she up to? "come here dog, FFS", that wears me out. I don't even get proper sleep because she's allowed on the bed at home and would just howl all night for the one week a year that she stays here. It doesn't help that she's one of the stupidest dogs (springer) I've ever met.... lovely... but thick, so everything is hard work. She goes home in the morning, though, so that'll be that for another year. I can't wait
