Yes, even when we manage to string a couple of good wins together there's never any feeling that we've finally cracked it.
In these two hoke games it seems as if we can't clear the boundaries or knock it around to keep the scoreboard moving.
That said I think we would probably have won tonight if Turner hadn't been run out...but that dismissal sounded like a very poor decision to attempt the run.

that's always been the problem in these games. We can't find any gaps to hit the ball off the square and the moment we try to hit over it we get caught. It's what we do. It can't be coincidence that most of our rare wins over the last few years seem to have come away from home. Whether that's the puddings we ask them play on up here, or whether it's the reaction of the crowd witnessing the same capitulations over and over again I don't know. I rather suspect that it might be the latter, because once the wickets start to fall and once the groans from the crowd (who've seen it all before and know exactly what's coming) begin, we seem to fall apart. When they added the T20 games to the members season tickets and jacked up the prices, I wonder if they did it because they thought we'd appreciate it, or whether they just wanted to manipulate some bigger crowds and make some more money from a format that nobody wanted to go to once they realised how embarrassingly sh1t we were? I know what I think is the answer. I remember in the years before they did that, all the old members who turned up religiously for every day of championship matches used to book their summer holidays for when the T20 season was scheduled

Starting to rain. 63/2 and D/L par is 66. Weird weather because there's a mix of ominous clouds and blue sky. Really could do with another wicket or two.

Brilliant caught and bowled by Coughlin. They were ahead on D/L before that.

Think they were 115/6 needing about 15 an over...and it still went to the last ball. Think they needed 40 odd from the last 2 overs and fell 3 short. To be fair I think the bowlers struggled with a wet ball but still...25 extras.
Great Game in terms of entertainment.

Jeepers, you know things are bad when you struggle to defend 218

I spotted that Lancs needed 29 off 8 balls with only bowlers left and then 4 balls later they only needed 9 runs.... oh dear.... Stokes-esque

I gave it up at that point, so I was surprised to see that we'd just about managed to win

Not often we beat Lancs, so in that regard it was well done, but it wouldn't be Durham without a great big wobble to keep everyone on their toes
