If the pitch is that bad, maybe Ireland have a chance. India chasing 97.

England, minnow, World cup, caribbean, rain affected..... what are the chances?

almost never happens

You just know how this is going to play out now. England are going to lose to Australia and end up with two must win games and no more margin for error - and even though they should win both easily on paper, there is then so much that could go wrong: Scotland beat Australia, an exit on NRR, on just another rain abandonment and they are on the plane home.

Beat Australia and everything looks pretty rosy, but somehow I don't have much confidence in that.

English commentators during the Pakistan warm ups were saying England are favourites.

And will play Australia in the final.

They had England as favourites in the 50 over WC too.

England can beat anyone, and T20 is a fickle format. I make my prediction on the basis of the pessimism of a long time England supporter - they never make it easy but always seem to have to take the most torturous route possible - rather than any objective assessment of the relative merits of the two teams.

My goodness, Australia has an old squad. Only one player under 28 (Green, 24), 8 players 32 and up, with a couple over 37. Today's playing XI features only 2 under 30.

In many ways it doesn't matter. Pick your best XI. Australia have some very good players, without a doubt. Experience is usually a positive in big tournaments.

But surely the generational shift in Australian cricket is imminent?

Pakistan going badly with the bat v US with 4 overs left. Though maybe the pitch is a horror.
