earlier we declared on 425 after the dismissal of BRaine for a very useful 71

Potts looked woeful at times in the game at Sussex, sprayed it all over the place in the 2nd innings, and got the treatment.

just about getting into a rythmn, I guess. Not helped by that very short boundary at Hove... full value for the batters the moment a bowler strayed off line

I'm sure he'll be back on it sooner rather than later

Interesting that the ECB pulled Carse out of this game and not Potts. 'Rested' in order to manage his workload, seemingly. I still find it silly that someone needs to be rested before they've had a chance to get tired

Apparently Sussex expected Ollie Robinson to be available last week but he was told to rest for the first game of the season!

I did intend to go down this afternoon, once I'd finished all my tasks, but tbh, it isn't that warm, it isn't particularly sunny and judging by the scoring and lack of wickets the cricket seems pretty attritional

Attritional is definitely the word for it - had 2 or 3 ball changes but not much is happening and Worcestershire aren't taking any chances...although the sun is out now!

That's interesting..... Worcs declare still 59 runs behind and only 5 wickets down. Presumably they're trying to make a game of it after batting the 110 overs

I had hoped that the wicket here might have a bit more in it than it did last year, but if neither side can bowl the other out in April, then I rather suspect that it hasn't and we may have to get used (again) to the kind of attritional diet we were fed last year

Of course, we might implode in the 3rd innings again and set Worcs up for an exciting run chase tomorrow. That must be what they are hoping for

and if it is going to be flat and turgid pitches all year, then we might need to start playing a second spinner, not called Borthwick

Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic- does seem as if batting is straightforward with the sun out but...new ball could still do a bit so I don't think this closing passage of play is bazball time! Third innings can often be tricky with a moderate lead- as we saw last week.

I've hd a bit of a hard graft day and I'm feeling very stiff (not in the good way), so it'll do me a bit of good to sit in the sunshine, drinking coffee and listening to people talking utter bollox from the members balcony.

Does that lad who shouts all the time go down at weekends?
