Potts again

165-7 now

first ball after lunch zeroed in on off stump and Carlson played a forward defence inside the line and got castled

Cooke was a leg side strangle taken well by Mr Ned

I rewound back to the 4 Stokes overs wondering if he was banging it in short again, but not so. He was bowling a bit wide and Carlson was happy to guide ball after ball past the 2 slips and away for four. I think he did that 3 or 4 times before Capt Beaky thought to put a third man in

It would be nice to get Nebuchad (Neser) before he does what Aussies seem to so often do

[Durhamfootman]

Pottsy targeting the stumps of the lower order batsman and making him play every ball.... which I appreciate

Neser has just edged one which fell just short of slip

odd ball keeping low

Sounds as if the lunch break came at the right time. Potts must be in the England frame, the dynamic duo Stokes and McCullum are unlikely to play it safe so he's just the sort of selection they might make.

[Durhamfootman]

Pottsy's line is much better to the right hander. When he bowls to the left hander Root, he tends to drift a bit wide

doesn't hurt having the new England captain playing next to you while you're taking a shed load of wickets

we all thought Carse was the next cab on the rank, but injury on Lions duty has rather stymied that

[Durhamfootman]

ah well... there you go.... quelle surprise

who'd have thought that a bloke with an ave of about 13 and a bloke coming back after about a hundred years out of action would put on 60 odd and counting for the 8th wicket?

well.... apart from everyone, that is

[Durhamfootman]

and our answer?

bring Capt Beaky on for a bit

that'll bring the scoring down

[Durhamfootman]

they've added about 80 runs in 18 overs, so we're doing something very wrong

This is the time for Stokes to try and shove a few a balls up around their throats, not after 20 overs

[Durhamfootman]

I imagine we're probably way behind on the over rate. I suspect we probably still have 14 overs to bowl before tea in 25 mins time, which must be why Borthwick is on. The trouble with that approach is it can take ages to find the ball that gets repeatedly spanked to the boundary

[captaincolly]

This is just drifting along, at best it's going to be even after the first innings and at the minute it looks as if Glamorgan will get a lead. The other bad news is it's cloudy and the lights are on so the combination of conditions and new ball could be nasty!
As I type Raine has finally got rid of Neser!

[captaincolly]

van der Gugten is in with a runner so he won't be bowling.

[Durhamfootman]

113 for the 8th wicket

that's why we'll win nowt, despite the pre-season optimism

[Durhamfootman]

Of course we can't bowl teams out on the final day, so the best we can realistically hope for is a draw and to do that we'll have to bat long in the second innings and hope we don't end up giving Glam a target that they can actually chase down

forecast for the weekend is much hotter and less windy than it has been on the first 2 days, so assuming we actually bowl them out without conceding a significant lead, we really cannot afford to lose 3 or 4 wickets before close of play tonight

[Durhamfootman]

the Glammy commentator was hoping that they'd get away with less than a 3 digit deficit, earlier, but conceded it was unlikely

clearly he doesn't know us as well as we do
