This tournament is throwing up some absolute doozies in terms of winning margins.
There are 10 teams (down from 11 after the withdrawal of Cameroon) with Zimbabwe the expected front runners in Pool A and Namibia the most likely victor from B. The winners of each pool go on to play each other as the sole team to move on to the global qualifiers.
Zimbabwe won their second game of the tournament this morning in a clinical mauling of Swaziland. The Zimbabwean bowlers, led by Esther Mbofana (6-11), got Swaziland all out for 17 in 9.2 overs. The Zimbabweans managed to chase that down in a humiliating 14 balls.
In the afternoon game, Tanzania (not exactly a cricketing powerhouse) put on a humungous total of 228-4 - the seventh highest T20I total for a Women's team. Mwanaidi Swedy top scored with an 87* off 48 balls. In reply Mozambique scored 28 - a winning margin of 200 runs.
Despite the fact that Swedy has only played one game to other competitors 2 games, her score of 87 puts her on top of the run scoring table. Zimbabwe's Loryn Phiri has figures of 4-12 and 3-1 which puts her atop the wicket taking table.
