Won toss and elected to bowl. Surrey top six batsmen look pretty powerful.

Getting Pope and David cheaply was a relief. I'm going to pop down now, it's quite humid with hints of showers so hopefully decent bowling conditions although I think that might be the case all day.

A solid start. 47/0. Just think the added pressure of a semi final run chase makes Surrey's 280 an above par score. Although they found it easier to bat after the new ball so maybe I'm wrong.

Stonetosser hasn't scored that many runs in about 5 years

I wasn't here for their innings but apparently he should have been out lbw to Borthwick in the 40's!

I'll play devil's advocate here but if I were a Sorryite I'd be criticising Stoneman. Batted throughout for 117,appeared to make little attempt to farm the strike or force the pace in the latter part of their innings, result total below par. Harsh?

probably. If one guy stays in long enough to score 117, then it has to be up to the others to tee off more, knowing the other end is secure and fairly productive.

what am I saying? :facepalm blooming chancer.... deserves to lose with a cr@p innings like that.... fancy shafting his team mates in such a selfish fashion just to try and make a point at his old club :D

anyway.... final here we come :hic

I confess to being just a little concerned earlier. I could see we were in a strong position only one down at the halfway point and then again only 2 down after 39 overs, but the rate was up a bit higher than I would have liked still with 79 runs to get. Fortunately Bedders seems to have quickly put the pedal to the metal and the win feels as comfy as an old jumper

that's 7 wins from 8 matches actually played. I can only recall one of them being a bit hairy

Borthwick's done pretty well in this comp. He hasn't been flogged, has taken wickets and has scored some runs without getting bogged down

we've won 7 from 8, so I can only presume that his captaincy has been pretty good too. Lets hope going into the final 4 matches of the season that he brings some of this positive stuff with him. Might be the making of him if he does

Intriguing final in store

We are scoring runs for fun and doing okay with the ball. Glammy have an effective and miserly attack and have done okay with the bat

Old war horse Hogan has 15 wickets at 2.90 econ. Cooke has 18 at 4.25 econ. We have the two top scorers in the comp opening with 1150 runs between them, including 5 hundreds and 5 fifties. Feels like the trophy might be decided right there

I think Potts. Carse and Raine will be available for selection.
It was another surprisingly ( to me!) straightforward run chase, we never looked in any trouble. Borthwick has done very well - the runs are flowing again and his bowling is going well too.

No brainer for me- we stick with the lads who got us there.
