the last Durham wicket fell almost 20 mins before lunch, and yet the umpires have allowed Essex to take lunch early

why is that okay? Lunch was scheduled to start at ten past one. Even with 10 mins for the turnaround, there was time for Durham to have 2 overs at the Essex openers and then make them start again afterwards.

I can never understand some of the umpiring decisions regarding hours of play. Seems random at rimes.
That session was pretty disastrous for Essex, in a lot of trouble now. I thought we'd do well to get a lead of 80.

Cook gone cheaply again. Always a massive wicket but even more so in this sort of scenario. He's just the type capable of making a backs to the wall hundred.
Need to get a couple more before batting gets easier.
