I think it will certainly affect selection. I think coaches will be more likely to pick young, inexperienced players. It certainly looks that way at Northamptonshire. It hasn't gone well so far.

Northants have already told Rob Newton that he will be released at the end of the season. I can't see him playing much this season.

Made his debut in 2009. Has become a first-class specialist and returns have dropped recently. His career has been affected by injuries as well. I suspect all this meant that on our small means he has become a luxury in the view of the county. He certainly has had some good seasons and is only 30, so he may get a place elsewhere.
