hmm.... stepping on a ball during warm up and having to miss the Old Trafford test is a freak incident..... picking a bowler who had been recently injured, not asking him to play any cricket to test the recovery out, but instead asking him to run up and down a couple of times is not a freak incident... it's a poor decision, borne out of desperation, which they didn't get away with
be honest, Honest Joe...... we aren't stupid, don't treat us as if we are
England have a history of doing that with Anderson.
Hurts his ankle in SL in 03. No f/c cricket for 3 months. Plays last Test 24-0-85-0
Jan 05 SA 1 Test. No f/c cricket for 4 months while changing his action in Zim ODIs. Didn't know where the ball was going in SA.
Stress fracture of the back March 2007. In September he bowls 10 f/c overs and then in November 24.1 overs against South Australia before the 1st Test - 5 wickets at 85.60
Misses 1st Test in SA with a calf strain. That took about 2 weeks to heal. Bowled 5 overs against SA Invitational XI.
2015 shoulder injury then rushed to India for 2nd Test after no f/c for 3 months. Didn't last to the 5th Test as he wasn't right.
So no cricket for a month is nothing compared to playing no cricket for 3 months. They think because of his experience he will take up where he left off. All cricketers really need 50 overs before a Test.
Look at Ashes in Australia 2010. He bowled 58 overs out there before the Tests. 24 wickets at 26.04. I think that is the only time he has been prepared on tours. These days 2 warm ups and he gets about 15 overs in 1 game.
