Pringle and Harding departures confirmed.
Imperative that a couple of experienced replacements are made, preferably by early September.

Yep. Surely they must have a couple lined up otherwise it would be foolish to leave us with such a small squad and one with very little experience- especially in the batting.

Second X1 through to T20 Finals Day. Secured it by winning the first game of a double header against Warwickshire. The second game was a 1 wicket victory off the last ball chasing 193. Eckersley with 57 not out from 28 balls! Surely should be playing for the first team?

The little leprechaun(aka the great leader) will decide his future at the end of the season.

Wouldn't have a problem with him staying purely as reserve w/k-it's his T20 captaincy that's unmeritrd.
Other thing is he's currently on an Ireland central contract so we're probably paying him a pittance.

I agree. He's a useful squad member.

that's quite an old article and I hope Poynter has a better handle on his situation now. He seems to think his choices are between playing domestic cricket in Ireland and playing in England as an overseas player. I'm not sure that the latter is really a choice, because I can't imagine any county using up their one overseas player slot on him. Murtagh yes, Stirling maybe, Poynter.... ?

isn't his choice really between playing domestic cricket in Ireland and opting not to play for Ireland and continuing to play county cricket by losing the Irish half of his dual citizenship?

As far as his T20 record is concerned, I'd much rather see Eckersley in the side, if I'm honest.... although I grant you we would need a wk back up for next season

Yeah. There's surely no chance of Poynter getting an overseas slot so think the tough decision refers to having to either give up international cricket or county cricket.
It also suggests Durham want him to stay ( or he thought they did when he gave that interview) If we had decided not to renew his contract the decision would be out of his hands - unless he thinks he could find another club. Not sure they'd be queuing up for him!
Other thing is - how likely is he to be a regular for Ireland. I know their options are limited but...

I suppose at a pinch, I'd accept Hashim Amla as a Kolpak........

It'll either be Amla and Smith ...or a couple of second team players from Derbyshire.

No, it's not Cricket Captain 2020, this is real life DCCC.
I mentioned earlier we currently have only 15 full time players which will be a maximum of 12 next season with Bancroft, Rimmington and Burnham,at least, out of contract.
