He's in his final year and the terms of an ECB white ball contact are the County pay his salary but are, I believe, compensated every game he is selected for England. He's actually played 15 games this year for England so presumably Durham will have received a fair amount of compensation. Speculation is that Durham will only offer him a new contract if he's offered a central contract for England. Could it be that he's Sorry bound to join some old teammates and Durham get a further boost to their salary fund?

I think the first thing they should do with the World Cup dividend is give Eckersley a new contract and one that justifies his worth. His wicket keeping is excellent and is averaging 37 with the bat - probably would be 47 if he wasn't usually stranded with the tail.
