Wonder if they're still planning to build the Hotel.

Hotel and Appartments,I believe. Behind the trapdoor stand presumably. Although, for me, improving the pitch so it's not a 1st day minefield should be number one priority.

Mark Nicholas normally grates but very complimentary in his introduction to today's game. "Welcome to the North East, this beautiful part of England where the folk are so welcoming and friendly". Nasser's pitch report is it's a good pitch and it's quite warm. Mind Nicholas then overdoes the egging with "the sun's out now, it could be the Costabravo" .

And Sri Lanka start with a performance worthy of Durham on day 1 - 0/1 after the first ball!

But then the script changes 37-1 off six although there's no comparison between red ball and white ball at the Riverside.

Yep. It's usually a very good one day pitch.
Is it a sell out today?

Decent crowd in already and "almost a sellout" according to Bostock. No worries 'cos he reckons we're going to be rich shortly :facepalm

they're charging crazy money, as well.

I think my pavilion seat would have cost me £125 (although that might just be the England game, not sure)

I only paid (only) £70 for the ashes test

I think it's even £55 for a seat in the trapdoor stand

although they do advertise the seats starting at £6........ perhaps that's for 10 children all sitting on top of each other

Very expensive. Got it on the TV now and it looks as if Bostock was right - looks pretty full.

With your own personal lift to the ground floor, what did you think it would cost?

A brief suspension of play earlier thanks to a swarm of bees!
Should make a fair amount of money on drinks given the hot weather!
