My hunch (given how Machiavellian the ECB is) was Morgan was given the ODI job because if he did well, it wouldn't pressure Cook. But if Root is skipper, he will pressure Morgan, particularly if he does well.

Do hope after this series England have good honest chat about the cricket they playing won't actually improve until they actually realise they not that good and need to improve in many areas.

I don't think it would be a great idea to give Root his first go in an unwinnable situation, on reflection. This is Cook's predicament. Give Root a start next summer.

It's just a guess that Cook will step down as a batter if he doesn't go now as captain.

Article not written well he hasn't even really expressed his points well.

I was critised a lot last summer for having a go at the English team for the losses but I feel it is justified now considering those issues I highlighted are still happening now.
TBH I saw them in Bangladesh as well.

Really if Pakistan get thrashed in Australia this winter it will highlight how poor England were last summer. It was odd and stupid to claim 2-2 draw and being lucky to get a draw is a good result.

Not getting Pakistan wickets cheaply and then not scoring runs against a 4 man attack with no stamina is really bad.
