having the benefit of hindsight and seeing 6 indian wickets fall made it look a worse decision than it was, but no captain would have declared earlier than he did in the the first test of a 5 test series
we had just batted for something like 80 overs and lost 3 wickets, 2 of which were when they started slogging to set up the declaration, it was almost unthinkable that india would collapse in 2 sessions on that pitch, and if we had declared early enough for it to make a difference in getting the wickets we would have been only something like 240 ahead with 60 overs left.

i dont rate cook as a captain
i have always thought he is too negative and too cautious and even i wont criticise that declaration

Even if it is what he believes, just be gracious in defeat so soon after the loss.

Oops!
unsurprising really..... posting 400 and then losing by an innings seems precisely the sort of thing that England are very good at

What did he do?
From what I've read Kohli put the boot in a bit in his after match interview, which is fair enough.
Not much love lost between these two teams, guess there won't be too much post match fraternisation!

Kohli was happy to make pointed statements about how England should bat so I see nothing wrong in Jimmy (in answer to a question about Kohli''s batting) remarking that the conditions in India prevent bowlers exploiting his off stump weakness the way the conditions in England do.
