Excellent recovery by Stokes and Buttler.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Might have something to do with the fact he was nearly out three times in his first 10 balls..... yes, he uses his feet seemingly well, but when playing from the crease his defensive technique looks utterly terrible

I'm so glad you're on our side sussex.

Fine day of Test Cricket :salute

Jennings and Ashwin the stars -the young debutant won't forget today in a hurry . Hope he continues from this fine start...
Game had a bit of ebb and flow and looks set up to be a very interesting match. England would love to get nearer 400 than three ; but that won't be easy.
New ball in the morning , I presume. Actually might be the best time to score ?

And India once again doing better than ninety overs in the day :clap

Sorry, I forgot the partyline.

Buttler played magnificantly. His edge just passed the slip picked the gap with an accuracy rarely seen. His leave that scrapped the stumps on the way through was judgement to the nth degree, you cant get closer to being hit on the off stump, but he knew that. His edge to leg slip that didnt carry was an excellent example of being able to safely smother a ball. And his first delivery that flew past his edge was just showmanship for the cameras.

What an excellent 17 runs that is.

If KJ owes it to Flower having been with England Lions less than a week, and for the first time, you're going to have to concede that Haseeb owes his success to his time in India. Surely Jennings, like Haseeb is another that hasn't been through Flower's hands.

Well done to him (Jennings) and Mo on the fifty. Maybe Keats would have been better crediting his coaches at Durham though.

Jennings obviously knows what side his bread is buttered. DO a spot of arse kissing might guarantee a 20 test longer run in the team

Imo it is even at 288/5. India have a good chance to bowl England below 350. England have a chance they may make 400.

imo below 350 batting first and we have won the innings. 400 by England and England have won the innings.

Yeah adi seeing The same thing although the key might be that India got 3 spinners and far better spinner they have to hope rashid and Ali get the same bite from the surface.

Rashid is the biggest turner of the ball on either side

Mo also gives it a rip

The question is more whether they will land it in the right place

As well as he has bowled this is the big test for rashid, can he win us a game on a pitch that offers quick turn and good bounce

370+ and we have a great chance india won't want to be chasing much more than 175 if this pitch deteriorates, looking at the turn and bounce on day 1 and the way the ball was going through the top

If one of stokes or buttler come off this could be an excellent game of cricket win, lose or draw
