I read the player would be out of the match. I've nothing against the team suffering for the actions of a player though. That's what team sport is about.

I think it's nonsense and should it be applied, as AC pointed out, the lawyers would have a field day.

thats my issue with it, why introduce a new penalty for something that almost never happens anyway

if someone on a cricket field lost the plot to the extent they would physically attack another player or umpire then i doubt they are going to refrain from doing it because of the risk of a red card for it

Maybe the penalties will spread from there. But it would have to be something sensational to throw them out of the whole match.

wonder if Hameed did choose india and he was good enough to play for india if india would choose him considering india don't really like choosing players born abroad considering the national football team doesn't pick players based abroad.

probably a stupid thought and lots of reasons why it doesn't happen but it would be nice if there was some sort of co-ordination between boards when it comes to scheduling of tests

we have 3 or 4 days now with no cricket, then we'll have 2 tests on at the same time again starting later in the week

or maybe i just have no life :hmmm

Only issue is the weekend.
Weekend get the biggest crowd.
Do they plan the games for the tv or the crowd.
Interesting aspect especially when you consider how many fans choose not to watch cricket in the stadium but only at tv because of so many factors.
Do agree would be nice if cricket can be played every day especially now in the winter.
But hard to see western +southern hemispheres sides doing it since they do rely on crowds for money and the tradition of weekend sports is popular.
India and Sri Lanka are open to Monday starts mostly because crowds are irrelevant and fitting more games is the priority, surprised they don't avoid clashes but then again cricket been one sport where other cricket games don't impact ratings.
India vs England test ratings make no difference to Australia vs Pakistan ratings in Australia the current test matches hardly dented or affected women big bash ratings.
More people were watching the women cricket than they were for the test in Australia.
Really the only time they will stop the clashes is if cricket wasn't nationalistic and England games or other international games affected the other games ratings in the key markets but that doesn't happen so they happy for loads of games to clash. At one time 4-5 test were played at the same time and few days later no cricket being played.

Need to happen though can't remember the last non England test or India test I seen on the telly or followed it mostly because every week India or England are playing and the fact I don't really watch cricket on the tv.
Probably watch more of it if games didn't clash with India or England.
I even missed the India vs nz odi series because I was watching England play Bangladesh.

Jack Leaning a surprise selection for the North, a good batsman who scores aggressively in white ball cricket for Yorkshire.
