Big Bash Cricket
Ep 1 - Hobart Hurricanes v Melbourne Stars
Start Boxing Day off with a bang as Channel 5 brings live Twenty20 cricket all the way from Australia’s explosive Big Bash League. The first of five exclusive live games sees the Hobart Hurricanes take on the Melbourne Stars. English eyes will certainly be drawn down under this winter as a host of English stars take their place alongside the world’s best players for the competition.
England’s own Stuart Broad, infamously hit for 36 off one over in a T20 world cup game, could be appearing for Hobart, having agreed a contract with the Hurricanes for 2016-17. Meanwhile, former England international Luke Wright could find himself accompanying a certain Kevin Pietersen at the crease for the Melbourne-based franchise.
The Stars, defeated finalists last season, will be hoping for better this year as eight franchises from across Australia will be attempting to secure domestic glory. Their opponents from Hobart endured a disappointing campaign last time out, including being bowled out for a meagre 91 against the Sydney Sixers.
So soak up the South Australian sunshine, throw the leftover turkey on the barbie, and enjoy the action as its sure to be a season full of thrills, spills, and of course, plenty of big hits and massive sixes.
