Only real difference with the winter programme is the ECB sending players over to Australia and New Zealand to train with State sides. Not much different to counties sending individual players to train in academies overseas.

I've no real problem with the ECB casting the net wide when it comes to providing additional coaching to promising players, if anything it is a reflection on the number of potential international players at the domestic level. The only real caveat I have about this is if it blocks players making their own arrangements to play overseas.

Maybe I'm the only ex-606er to think of EnglishCat19 at the call up of Gareth Batty to the touring party.

Ball has been called up. As if they don't have enough pace options.

Makes it easier for them to play a third spinner. Woakes, Broad and Stokes will play. Then a question of Batty/Ansari or Finn/Wood.

Wood maybe favourite? With 6 proper bowlers he won't have to bowl long spells.

Also tend to follow any former/current/prospective England players.

Woakes, Broad and Stokes should be enough. Won't they play a sla ahead of the ob though?

Lol looks like SA A got conned they not even going to get the same tour England lions got in SA couple of years ago.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricke ... eries.html

SA A won't get any first class games only 3 list A games and only the full team get to play against the lions.

Although SA are facing a quality side unlike the crap sides the counties send so they are getting a decent deal, but nothing like what SA provided england couple of year ago.

God knows why SA even bother giving games to England lions although they have no control over the pretoria training camps since they do not own the grounds or facilities.

ECB are one of the most selfish boards in the cricket circles they don't actually deserve many lions games or access to facilities abroad.

Also looks like Anderson will have no match practices for 3 months before the india series, looks like great planning from ECB there lol.

Yeah, South Africa are clearly getting screwed on this.

I mean, I am sure if you looked you would find tonnes of English players playing regular first class cricket in SA for their Franchise teams.... and hardly any ever come to county cricket to get experience.

Ah, no.... wait..... :facepalm

I have a feeling that some senior players might get injured in the build up.... code for not wanting to tour, but getting a free pass.

Might be they want to rest him, but it looks bad resting him for a tour they are having to encourage others to take.
