If it's true I'm wondering how we're going along at 4 to 5 runs an over still.

Second batting point.

4 and 5 an over is about par for our spinners!
I wonder also if that dramatic late win against Surrey used up all of our last drops of energy, we were flagging before that game.

Hants 267/3
Warks 165/6

So far so good.

Definitely!

There tail always seems to wag though. Wouldn't be surprised to see them near 300 then bowl Lancs out cheaply

Vince run out by Stokes for 92. He'll never hear the end of it!

Nothing worse than a run out in this type of situation.

Could play a huge factor on the relegation race whether Warks get to 250 or not. All reports suggest it's very much a bowling pitch so that could yet be a good score, but if they don't get to 250 and we get to 350 that makes up the 3 bonus points by my reckoning, and IF they were to lose then we would only have to draw. If they get to 250 we will need 400 and I think that may well be a good score on that track

Our third batting point coincides with Warwickshire's first.

Ervine gone 4 balls before the new ball is due. Need to try and scrape to 400 here

Berg and McManus are relatively assured batsmen, Crane and Wheal aren't.

Warwickshire take only one batting point, we're nearly at four.

Fourth batting point gained but Pringle has just trapped McClaren lbw. 48 runs to get max batting points with four wickets left.

Obviously we'll expect a couple of lbws at least for our spinners!

I'm reserving judgement on that score until Lancs have batted. All reports I have seen suggest that there's turn and uneven bounce on day 1 which suggests it's only going to get harder to bat on, so that might yet be a good score

If we get maximum bonus points and end up drawing the game then if Warwickshire lose from here we survive.

One of a million and one scenarios!

Got to be pretty happy with that day overall.

Closer to survival than at the start but still a long way to go.
