Surprise surprise, lots of uncontested tosses around the country today, except at Taunton. Well I guess it is Notts they're playing.

Must win game for Warks, we just need a draw and a bonus point. Can't call it, I feel we should be able to bat long enough to get a draw and we are capable of destructive spells of bowling, but, equally we are capable of proper batting collapses.

I fear Jake Ball could go through our top order like a dose of salts, they are incredibly rickety.

I keep making the same mistake in thinking Jake Ball plays for Lancs, I think I'm mistaking him for Wagner who also had a stunning early start with the ball.

Warks have chosen their reserve keeper to open in place of Varun Chopra, he showed some promise in the last game compared to those batting around him but it shows the paucity of the Warks reserves.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

TBH with the contested toss rules having a turning pitch is the best way to go, win the toss bat first, if you lose the toss you wouldn't mind bowling first if the pitch is turning a bit and if they don't do the toss you be batting first.

Tim down to bat at five for Yorks. But plenty of bowling in the side, and a decent start. Need to bowl Middx out for 250, given Yorks' batting.

Hants openers have made one ton between them this season, but a good start against midtable Durham.

Although Smith and Adams have Hants' highest partnership of the season, with 190 v Lancs. And the third highest, with 160 v Durham.

Does this suggest a continued improvement in our late season batting or a flat pitch or both?!

Knowing that a win is almost a must for us, I can't think that the groundsman would have made it too flat. Hopefully it will wear as the game progresses.

A decent enough start for Yorkshire, but could have been better if Gubbins was not dropped.

Just as Middlesex look to find another gear, John Simpson somehow doesn't offer a shot to a straight Tim Bresnan delivery and is out LBW.

However Somerset are going from strength to strength and are looking promising to gain maximum batting points.

But not surviving a huge appeal, tickling leg side behind the keeper off Sidebottom.

Warwickshire batting living up to his well earned reputation. 198/8. Clearly they are unable to offer much with the bat so it's once more up to the bowlers to try and save the team.
