Currently 4-48 off 22 overs which is pretty good anywhere.

Now a 5-fer. Yorks 20 ahead with one wicket left.

Gutted that Yorkshire lost in the manner that they did, particularly when the bowling attack put on a good performance in the 1st innings (270-9 on Day 2 in sweltering conditions)

Today needed someone to support Lehmann who looked like he was here for the duration. At first I thought Rashid got out by dancing down the track to Leach, but having seen the delivery again online it turned out to be a wicked delivery from Leach which got ridiculous turn and bounce. Bresnan didn't have the footwork to deal with Leach and played one defensive stroke too many. Hodd played a weak shot, again unable to deal with the spin of Leach.

However Liam Plunkett made Leach look average, used his feet well and batted with aggression combined with intelligence. Lehmann played a daft reverse shot and got himself out LBW after doing all the hard yards, he was disappointed despite scoring a century. Brooks played a tame shot where he was used to counter attacking with the bat. Sadly Plunkett played one aggressive shot too many after hitting Leach for six and four in succession, but it was not his job to set Somerset a target. That was primarily for Lees, Ballance, Gale and Hodd who scored a paltry 120 runs in the match.

All the talk on the BBC radio commentary of the Lancs v Middle game has centred on a middle win, principally from the garrulous Kevin Hand, but the state of the game is far from being in their favour and a Lancashire win is a definite possibility. Should that happen a Somerset championship becomes much more likely. Mind you their task to beat Notts has become more difficult by the return of Jake Ball who Notts have missed badly this season.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

A sensible decision with updates also no doubt of the relegation battle.

Yep and they need to keep an eye on the Somerset game just in case.

Now for Sky to put pressure on the ECB and insist that Root and Bairstow are made available :halo:

Sadly it's probably Patterson that'll be the biggest miss-you need to take 20 wickets.

Hard to imagine Somerset won't beat Notts with maximum points. I can't see Yorks winning at Lord's, but if they do, I'm not sure they'll do it with too many batting bonus points, so I'm predicting second or third for Yorks. Given their batting problems, it's a bit unexpected they could have got so near.

I believe Patterson is now available for selection after a marked improvement in his fathers health. Bit of dilemma though because Plunkett bowled decent for little reward and batted well in the 2nd innings against Somerset.

Yorkshire's batting has been sub standard this season. Only Lees and Lyth have scored runs with any consistency and now Jake Lehmann is heading home upon request by South Australia, which is fair enough because he is their player and the Matador BBQ Cup starts soon.

If Somerset play on the same wicket which they beat Durham and Warks on, there is no way that they're making 400. Just getting to 200 would be an achievement.

If I was Somerset, I'd go back to a fairly flat Taunton wicket (although not totally to your traditional flat Taunton deck) and back your bowlers to knock our Notts' very frail batting line-up without pitch assistance.

We'll be missing Peterson for the crunch match against the Bears which is a fairly substantial loss. I'd like to think that we've got a good chance of staying up, but I reckon we'll crumble under the pressure.

It would be amusing if the Bears went down as Essex came up given what's happened with Chopra.
