Somerset needed Groenewald bowling from both ends.

All credit to Middlesex. Set 302 at 6.5 per over and go for it. Sort of attitude that deserves to win championships. Can't help contrasting it with Yorkshire at the Riverside. Set 350 in 81 overs and make no attempt whatsoever to chase it down.

Positive thinking by Lyth who thinks Yorkies can still win. Interesting to see how they approach this morning. Aim for 200 lead early afternoon and leave 50 overs to bowl Sorry out would make for an interesting last 2 sessions.

Durham being title rivals and Somerset closer to relegation will have made some bearing on how the respective sides went about the run chase.

Though it doesn't excuse Yorkshire on how negatively they batted in the 2nd innings against Durham and Middlesex, going into block mode puts un-necessary pressure. I'd rather if Middlesex won by 10 wickets by chasing 50 to win at Scarborough, than trying to see out the overs.

Well I can't accuse Yorkshire of being negative today. Max batting pts after 105 overs and Surrey's batting looks very flimsy. Could get interesting.

Notts looking like they might lose again.

Probably would have preferred a draw, but a Somerset win will probably mean 2 from 3 to go down. Although still a fair part of the season to go.

Notts 98-7, 60 odd ahead, squeeky bum time for Notts. Something seriously wrong at TB.

Yes, they have - on paper - a very strong side but something is preventing them living up to their potential.

Notts all out ( Hutton absent injured) and Somerset need 100 runs to win. Should be a formality unless Notts take 3 or 4 quick wickets.

Over 50 overs remaining, going to be a doddle.

Going to take Notts and Surrey to five defeats for the season each, we've only had two and we're still bottom!

With so many draws so far it's pretty appalling to already have lost 5 games!

Looks ok for Hants. Somerset don't really look like relegation candidates. One defeat this season, and that in a very tight game.

Yet Notts are probably the strongest CC1 T20 side. Which highlights how much T20 success seems to be gained at the expense of first class results. Or at least isn't an indicator of CC1 quality...
