For me it's totally about the formation. Roy needs to pick a formation which suits as many of our players as possible/gives us the greatest chance of winning. Now if that formation happens to have a role in it that Rooney can easily slip into (and perform in it better than the next man), then fine play him. But if not, then Roy can't be going out of his way to shoe horn Rooney in.
So I'm not going to say that Rooney should be playing here or there or nowhere.
(For what it is worth, my gut is that Roy will start him either ahead of Vardy or ahead of Alli)
