I would have said low forties.

Alec looked seriously craggy, even when he was playing.

To be fair, he was captain, keeper, and opening bat!

I think he's been ill for a long time. A leading cricket journalist and commentator for many many years. You'll wait a long while to hear a negative word said about Tony Cozier. A very likeable, decent man, a professional, and the unmistakable voice of West Indies cricket for the whole of my life. He'll be missed all around the world.

Cozier wasnt one of the best, he was miles ahead of anyone else.

A humble, mild mannered man with a calm style, I think a lot of commentators from any sport could learn a lot about their craft listening to him. He was comfortable enough in his own intelligence to display his knowledge of the game while avoiding the "ram it down your throat approach" that so many fall into the trap of, and which makes me mute anything that Willis or Botham had to say. For that reason I was more inclined to listen to him and be open to learn from him. And there was much to learn, as he had a deep understanding of the game.

As much a part of West Indian cricketing heritage as any player has individually achieved, and for me in my lifetime has always remained synonymous with the face of West Indies cricket around the globe. He had opinions on West Indies cricket that more people in power would have done well to listen to, to react to. he was probably wasted as a commentator, he had good ideas that the administration could have put to use.

Those 6pm post New Year evenings, dark, cold outside, coming in from work.... crack on the test in the Windies and let Cozier sooth you after a hard day.... watching cricket in the Windies can never be the same again.

Maybe his lack of bitterness was down to the fact like, unlike others, he never really played the game and so never felt to devalue others out of spite and bitterness.

Tony Cozier represented a type of commentator that we are losing fast, that of the wordsmith rather than the ex-player. Frankly cricket commentary needs both and he will be sadly missed. RIP
