A fine days play for Yorkshire in boiling hot conditions at Headingley. Bowlers responded very well in peak heat with the old ball when Sangakarra and Davies looked to take Surrey beyond 400.
Missed the first two wickets due to the L**ds half marathon, but was told Yorkshire's opening bowlers did well and although a few chances were dropped, they weren't overly costly. Wicket had a tinge of green and looked like a flat deck, until the final hour where uneven bounce became a feature and encouraged two LBWs as the ball shot relatively low. Alex Lees took a blinder of a catch at slips to remove Sangakarra, leapt like a salmon at full stretch to snaffle it one handed.
Very impressed with David Willey, who not only bowled well with the old ball but also found the stamina to kick it up a gear.
Also former England Rugby coach Stuart Lancaster casually rocked up for an afternoon session and sat amongst a few supporters underneath the scoreboard end, what a guy!
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
