Gale declared too soon for me. Yorkshire should have carried on for another 8 overs and pushed the score nearer to 650 when the part-timers were on. Reaching 590 odd is one thing, but do it too early and you leave the risk of the opposing team avoiding the follow on with enough time in the game for all 3 results to be possible.

The pitch was the only winner A.P. Even if Yorkshire had made them follow on,you'd already been in the field for almost a day and a half and the bowlers must have been exhausted. Further immediate exertions would bring a high risk of injury.
