I have never known an injury list like this before. Early suggestions are two months out for Fidel. So that is him, Topley and Berg (three of our four main seamers!!) out for serious injuries, and I've fairly certain that we'll soon hear that Ervine is the same, once he has had his scan.

Fortunately we have a week off now. A chance for Wood and Dawson to rest up (given that Wood bowled today, he can't be too bad) - and by all accounts one more week off is all that Jimmy needs, and he'll be back for Middlesex.

There's also Stevenson, who I have to say I totally forgot about the other day when I was talking about our injuries. He too got injured in pre-season, and I have no idea what the injury is or how long we're talking. But that means of our 18 full time, 8 are currently injured. Basically a whole team: Adams, VACANT, VACANT, Dawson, Ervine, VACANT, Berg, Wood, Stevenson, Topley, Fidel.

Just goes to make this draw even better.

(If we had to play a game now without any of those eight, our side would look like: Carberry, Alsop, Vince, Smith, McManus, Wheterley or Taylor, Wheater, McLaren, Tomlinson, Crane, Wheal. With Whetherley or Taylor as 12th man. Apart from the kids who are some way from the first team, that it literally everyone else)

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

I was wondering what had happened to Lewis McManus in the pecking order. It appears that he is unlikely to feature for Hants in the near future as they are letting him play for Dorset!

I see he advocates walking football.

My brother has just started playing it, and wants me to go along. No chance, you can't play football properly walking, it just doesn't work for me on any level.

Given there's no competitive reason why a Div 1 team would help us out, and anyone who can't get into a Div 2 team is unlikely to be worth a look, I did wonder if we might look at Ireland or Scotland for help with this injury crisis...
