I've generally been against picking someone like Tredwell for the Test team but i think there is a decent case for his inclusion now. We have such a strong pace attack that all we need is a spinner to dry up runs at the other end. Like Paul Harris did for SA to complement their outstanding quicks. He was an underrated bowler and people only realised his value when SA moved onto Tahir.

Makes sense. Here he would have been tight, kept the pressure, and he is actually a spin bowler. Not an all rounder. England, pick a specialist, not a part timer. Why was he not even picked for the tour?

I think England want to move on from picking older players like him. All about looking to the future.

I can understand that, but for tours like this, i would think a specialist is better than part timers. Could even help Ali out.

Tomorrow is also the future, the trick is to be able to deal with the both the near and distant future at the same time.
