Excellent bowler across all three formats with a long future ahead of him, at just 21 he's already played at international level. I thought Hampshire fans generally were less than impressed with their current bowling stocks. Quite how you got him over the likes of Warks and Surrey is beyond me.

Not quite sure why you wouldn't be raising a glass to a top notch signing.

I didn't realise he was as young as 21 ( seems hes been around longer )

Time will tell, I guess, moving to us wont help his England career though.

Phenomenal effort by Yorkshire to get the remaining 8 Somerset wickets in one session, at one stage Hildreth and Cooper looked set to eliminate most of the innings deficit.

Indeed. Confused as to why this is not being considered a major coup

Isn't it convenient that bad light times it's arrival to coincide with the fall of a wicket or the end of an over, never in middle of a normal over.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Before someone starts throwing grenades at me for mentioning this, I am not stating he should be picked... but.....

Is there a single English player in the county game averaging 41 with over a 100 matches that hasnt got a test cap, apart from Luke Wright? Over 90% of which I think must be Div 1 cricket?

Last three years.... averages 52, 52 and currently 56

James Hildreth :halo:

Had Jonny Bairstow not averaged 100 in the County Championship this year, Luke Wright may well have got the nod to replace Gary Ballance.

Daryll Mitchell is another, Vince must be close.

Vince averages bang on 41... two failures for Mitchell drops him to 39.....both have played a lot of Div 2 matches.

How Hildreth never got a cap is simply beyond me. May still do....I hope so, just on the grounds of fairness.

Playing half your games at Taunton won't help assumption being they're easy runs. Be interesting to know what his average is away from Taunton.

Surrey have gone up, so that'll be celebrated up and down the land. With quite a few of their own players, so well done to KP and the lads.
