Maybe he is giving all of his commitment and has borrowed some from somebody else - we all know KP has some to spare.

Maybe he is allowing for tax. In Aus, GST is 10%. This would leave him an after tax commitment level of 99%. Not bad, but I feel he can do better.

From 2018, all international fixtures and Big Bash matches will be held at the still being built $A1.2billion Burswood stadium.

they are just talking about this on the ODI coverage with tom moody

I assume domestic cricket will still be played at the WACA , how does that affect finances for WA if the big games are being played at the new stadium ?

Brad Haddin is holding a press conference in about half an hour. Retirement from international cricket is expected.

Yep, he pulled the pin alright. It will be interesting to see who becomes the understudy for Peter Nevill.

I think Wade.

I would prefer not, though.

Id stick with Nevill. Some technical issues outside off stump, especially with leaving the ball on length, but I have seen better players (Mike Hussey) do that in England when they are used to more bounce. He knuckled down a few innings, showed he wanted to bat with a bit of stickability.

Yet are Australia in a position to ditch someone who can average mid 30's down the order?

we are talking as Nevill(e)'s understudy, Sussex. I think it a given that Nevill is the incumbent test player, his position to lose.

Nevill(e) is a test player - he has shown that he can knuckle down when it is needed. Ego doesn't seem to be a controlling factor with his batting.

Very sad news. Astute, brave and blunt. Brave as a lion against the quicks, no helmet or protection - they kept their eyes on the ball in those days - a skill seemingly lacking in the current era.

Fondly remembered from a distance. RIP

Modern day bats are terrible, we know this despite the fact that statistically the last decade produced the most runs per wicket in the history of the game.

What modern day greats need is to show more Close like skills...... ie, no x 100 in test and an average befitting most lower order bowlers who can bat a bit. :clap If Close is the benchmark of what a lion heart, bravery and an ability to let a short ball hit you in the face rather than duck it gets you, then give me Virat Kohli wearing a mattress, large pads and a motorcycle helmet anyday.

He was nothing more than a failure with a few personality traits and stories that stops him becoming a name that is reduced to the footnotes of history.

In his most infamously brave test match, he made 22 runs in two digs, and England made 200 in 2 x innings.

it didnt matter hoot that he batted three hours for one run.... his net effect on the team would have been beneficial if he edged the first ball for four, then be bowled out. If you are going to be brave and stay at the crease, it only means something when you score runs. His 1976 Old Trafford effort was, in all sense of the world, meaningless.
