Not sure he'll get in Yorkshire's CC team, under normal circumstances. I wonder if he'll get in Will Rhodes' way.

Just read on cricinfo that Rhodes was born in Nottingham, and educated in Cottingham. Cottingham is where I grew up.

I don't think he would have gone to Yorkshire without some sort of assurances about being a part of the 4 day team. I think he will fit in well but time will tell!

It's a big gamble on his part. Yorkshire have competition for places at all levels, a poor start to the season could easily see him in the Stiffs.

Yes, that is the risk he's taking.

Very unusual for Yorkshire to make a signal of intent, but a quality signing noneoftheless.

Yorkshire's senior bowlers aren't getting any younger. Coupled with the hectic county schedule I reckon there will be further emphasis on squad rotation and Willey will be given opportunities to play red ball cricket.

Looks like being picked for England has gone to his head. :P

He'll be 30 next season. Not sure how many clubs would want him bearing in mind they might onlyget 3-4 years tops out of him.

Fairly peaceful Cottingham. I think the student bashing days have passed.

There wasn't a takeaway there until twenty years ago, and when the curry place opened, a citizens group tried to stop it.

Jimmy Binks was a bit before my time, but heard of him, mostly from Fred's autobiography.

Yep, a few years too early for him to go there!

Sidebottom is contracted until 2016. Injury permitting I won't be surprised if Yorkshire can get another year out of him, still delivering the goods in red ball cricket.

It does put the futures of Rich Pyrah and Moin Ashraf into doubt. The former whose contract expires this year and has recently found himself down the pecking order in limited overs cricket.

Mark Footitt is Notts bound next year, they lack an experienced bowler and he won't have far to travel to.

That sounds right, that was the team I thought would be a likely destination.

Even though Footitt had such a bad time at Notts?
