A good day for Yorkshire in the end, satisfied with the four 2nd innings Durham wickets at stumps.

Still work to do tomorrow, got to make most of the new ball and any overhead conditions. A Durham win could be a scenario if the lower-middle order post enough runs, Big John Hastings goes on the counter attack and Yorkshire are ragged from another half day in the field.

Yorkshire would have to be bowled out in a session by a side with limited spin options. Durham have been starting games badly and finishing them well, so that makes you a bit wary, but I can't see that scenario. Worst that can happen is a draw.

A very good return. I get the feeling Gale sparsely used Sidebottom and Brooks today so they can go and blast out the Durham lower order with the new ball tomorrow.

If Yorkshire break this current partnership before mid afternoon they will surely win and the chances of not losing a wicket in that time are virtually nil. If Yorkshire get an early wicket it could be over before lunch!

I think we have to pity the cricketers out on the field today especially the pace bowlers. 30+ degrees is tough when you're not used to it.

On this current pitch, I would pity them at 15 degrees.

In fact, if Sussex and Warwickshires ground staff come together and united, we might actually get a perfect pitch, or at least something fit for purpose.

Sussex produce a two day result pitch where balls swing 12 ft, length balls hit helmets or jam fingers to bats, and balls seam a foot after pitching.....

Warwickshire respond with a pitch that would struggle to get a result in a 9 day game, and where the par score seems to be somewhere around the 900 mark....

Both groundsman should be ashamed of themselves really.

Ironically though, when people struggle to get 200 the pitch gets reported and a team risks a fine or points deduction..... 15 wickets in 3 full days, pitch is fine, nothing wrong, no need to call the inspectors.

Congratulations to Yorkshire, comprehensively outplayed us so deserved winners.

End result a bit flattering for Yorkshire considering Durham controlled most of Day 1 and started the follow on innings with promise.

An excellent team performance to go top of the County Championship. Whether Yorkshire can sustain it is another matter, mainly to further England call ups.

11 wickets surely. Not so sure you can blame the groundsman.He can't control the weather.
