I may not have thought this round out particularly well

Hales is having a blinder for you, and Voges has picked up a wicket - which is really going to wind me up as I think they were among those top players that you picked up in the lottery that somehow favoured those that had already splurged on superstar signings. You may have been hacked off when I won that match on day 4 last year but at least it was fair and square; whereas I suspect I may well lose this and have a sense of injustice to go with it so I'll be even more hacked off than you were.
My cause is also unlikely to be helped by the injuries to / absences of Bird, Fletcher, Chris Wood, Buck, Tom Smith, Ambrose, Carver and Rob Taylor ... and probably others that I've forgotten.

Bird going back home to Oz, because of his injury. In all likelihood, he wont play for us at all this season. Whoever has Fidel Edwards will now get to use him earlier than first planned.
EDIT - Oh, that would be you any way Red! So good news this is for you, sort of.

not really. Bird is a top class bowler who should really be in the Aus team if he could stay fit and would have mauled most county batsmen - Fidel probably won't even get in the team and is nowhere near the WI squad.

We've made in quite clear that he's going straight into the team for our next game vs Yorks, just so long as he doesn't spend ten days bowling absolute tripe in the nets.
We wouldn't have asked him to fly over three months early, if we were just going to ask him to carry the drinks.

you could have bid for Hales and Voges, of course
the very presence of Hales in the lottery, suggests that nobody thought he was a good pick, and in the long run he may prove not to be. Similarly Voges, who won't be around for long anyway.
Any hoo..... I think I may have picked too many spinners on a week when there could well be a bit of rain around.
