Really looking forward to this group. 6 teams all in with a chance of making the top 4 and i wouldn't rule out UAE challenging some teams too.

Based on current form, i think Zimbabwe will beat West Indies.

annoyed a little at the cricinfo article moaning about England taking rankin away from Ireland and then not picking him but not "letting him go"

it was rankin's decision to stop playing for Ireland, no-one forced him to and I doubt he was given any guarantees but its always England that gets the blame for it

I agree that Ireland are weaker this time but they're still capable of beating 4 of the teams in that group so you never know.

As I've written elsewhere, Ireland are a red herring. I'd love to see the get stuffed and all ideas of Test status hammered.

The Afghans on the other hand are a side I'd be delighted to see do well.

Really annoys me when Associate fans act like Ireland will beat Bangladesh/Zimbabwe all the time. Agree they should get more opportunities to play games but don't act like they would actually beat ban regularly or they should replace them in the Test Rankings/nations.

Bangladesh are literally most hated team which is odd considering Zimbabwe is more poor and they actually waste the money on corruption unlike Bangladesh.

Ireland are probably happy in their group considering they would get hammered in Group A and at least in group B their over hype reputation would still be there.
Ireland would lose to all 3 test members in group A, maybe lose a close game to England, Bangladesh would probably beat Ireland, with only an associate side being their own chance of victory.

Group B should challenge West indies, Zimbabwe don't have the depth of Bangladesh so they could easily lose against an associate, Pakistan will be hit and miss + the other associate.
for all the talk about Ireland being promoted to test cricket and replacing the likes of Ban/Zim their only won 3 games out of 12 against them.
They can only really justify relegating Zimbabwe so Zimbabwe play more cricket similar to their level, Bangladesh is a tough one since they should dominate associate cricket but at the same time not really push top test sides much apart from be Competitive without winning much games each year apart from the 3-4 odi shocks each year.

For all the talk about Ireland being promoted with Ban/Zim being relegated the same people would probably say Ban should be playing more Test since their win so many associate games caused shocks in the past 2 world cups Etc.
Only valid point is to create 2 divisions top 6 and bottom 6 but impossible since ICC/Board can't afford that since all the money comes from India/England.
