first I thought it was a blackmail attempt to get morgan to do fixing or something serious cricket related.
But then reading it sounded like the man was so stupid blackmailing ECB for money when he could have just sold the story to the newspapers and have gotten the same amount of money or even more plus he wouldn't have gotten to trouble with the police.
That what people that sleep with footballer or Celebrities do although this policy does mean the identities are revealed.

Not if it is a true story and evidence provided to the newspapers.
The couple can be only sued for the defaimation of the character if what their said is lies but since newspapers would want prove and evidence it is likely some part of the story is correct.
Also once the story is out by the newspapers not sure the people can be sued for the defamination of character considering they didn't right the articles or the headlines generally celebrities/footballer sue Newspapers and not the people sending the stories.
One reason why Sun and tabloids are full of sex stories or exclusives it can be easy money for people and why they encourages people to send in stories.

Either way sounds like a nothing story not sure the couple even had evidence for their claims.

Quite possibly they aren't allowed to show them before then. As in the Ashes 2006-7 series when Sky's deal allowed them to dictate when competitive highlights could be shown.
