That's not how Aus cricket has ever worked. I know that this is a new age, and T20 is a big thing, but in Aus, the raison d'etre of the state teams has been to provide for the national side. National considerations come 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th.

iirc in Last Big Bash some of the key players traveled between matches during last stage.

This year example is Henriques is playing today. He played the ODI yesterday versus England but today he is playing Big Bash semis. maybe one fo fualkner or White might be playing for stars tomorrow.

Henriques is not part of the squad for the ODI series. He was brought in as an emergency replacement due to Twatto straining a hammy, Warner doing the same. I know Warner is back on Monday, not sure about Watto.

Henriques is surplus to requirements.

I stand (strongly) by my last post. This is a pillar of Aus Cricket. One that, I imagine, most Aus fans are proud of. I love it.

"Top eight" doesn't mean much frankly. India were shambolic and Sri Lanka (sans Malinga) were clearly understrength. Scoring runs against the big attacks in places like Australia is what really counts and he's done nothing yet.

You could arguably say something similar about Root.

We are relying heavily on our batters. Not even a single bowler who is in form.

Mitch1 is going to play in the final in Perth, says CA. Should be interesting if England qualify (as they should, with a bonus point).

At present, I do think our team is better. These words might bite me on the bum!

I suppose if India win tomorrow against Australia, they would have a good chance of making the final (sounds like Australia will be resting players). But if they lose that, it'll be tough for them to count on beating England with a bonus point. Anyway, England and India are only competing to lose to Australia again, so it's not the most tempting of prizes.

England have made welcome changes, but not enough yet and they've come far too late for this WC cycle. The priority now should be seeing the back of Bopara - he was utterly hopeless against the hosts.

I can't believe it. Even if England qualify above us in ODI i would take it as exception.

Ravi's selection has always been a controversial topic. Almost like bits and pieces player versus proper all rounder or proper specialist. But i think England have failed to find a proper all rounder replacement for Freddie. They tried Ravi, Ben,Jordan ,Samit. None gave quality all round performances more often than not.

I'd be tempted to play Stokes, batting him up the order at three or four.

Ravi's more economical than Stokes, but Stokes is more likely to take wickets. That's if they bowl.

imo Moeen has grabbed the chances well than both Ravi and Ben in their initial career.

Stokes would be an authentic fourth seamer. It would open up the option of Tredwell coming in too.
