Yes, if the wicket is flat then why are not other batsmen scoring 200+. And there are four openers in one match batting on same wicket. So the number of innings batted by 4 openers * matches played on flat wickets around world is in thousands. Still only 4 or 5 scores of 200+ and Rohit has two of those records with scores of 209 and 264. Ordinary batsmen do not do that.

Well, that has happened 4 times in the last 4 years now. Plus, we've seen a 17 year long fastest ODI hundred broken last year only to be broken a year later. Not saying its easy but maybe it tells you something about modern day ODI cricket. These "extraordinary" things are happening a bit too frequently of late although I do think ABDV's knock was truly astonishing.

At no point did I say its "easy". I just fail to see how that is relevant for a World Cup in Australia/NZ. England's success with the ball in low scoring matches at home propelled them to the no.1 ranking in the world a couple of years ago and it was impressive. Would that have made them a contender for a WC in Asia?

Sir, in which country did he score 138 day before :?:
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

I'll wait for him to do it more consistently. :thumb I'm all too used to false dawns from him in the past. I really thought he had turned a corner after that double against Aus last year and we all saw what happened in SA and NZ. Even here, he failed in the Test series. So yeah, I'm not counting my chickens just yet after 1 good innings.

Interesting. We all knew Aus and NZ would play their QFs at Adelaide and Wellington respectively but interesting that they have announced the venues for SL and England too. England have got the most favourable of the 3 Australian venues hosting the QFs (considering that they were never gonna play in Wellington with NZ set to play their QF there). A bit disappointed that there is no quarterfinal at either of the two quickest pitches in Australia i.e. Brisbane and Perth. A quarterfinal vs SL at Sydney appears to be our best chance of qualifying for the semis.

I still think it's anyone's cup to win at this stage and in this format of the game. It's all about confidence IMHO, and the teams that can take the most confidence into the tourney with them should have success.

There's also bound to be the odd upset in the quarters and at least one big choke (I'm not saying that's going to be South Africa). We've all watched plenty of ODI's to know that on any given day in a one off match either side can win.

I'd be curious to see how the bookies are approaching this across the globe.

He definitely asked him politely, you could tell by his screwed up face and from my vast experience with lip reading, and from recently watching "The Good. The Bad, And The Ugly" he clearly says. "hey old chap would it be terrible to ask you to please speak English, now there's a good sort then".

Yes old Crowe and Agnew, now they were never on the receiving end of Australian verbals followed by a lot of pain..........not.

Both teams at the end of the day dished it out in the test series, and who knows what the India team says under their breath in their own language other than they themselves and fans that my pick it up on stump mic. The problem here is Warner needs to not care, and I'm sure both sides will be told not to antagonize one another, but you just know the next time they face each other one of the Indian players will not be able to help themselves and will sing happy birthday in Hindi to Warner and it's going to get ugly.

I can honestly see a bat being used and players running out from the dugouts.

You see chit chat in a lot of sports, but there are plenty you don't see it in and the umps simply need to show a little more strength.

Agree apart from Australia no other has really impressed me yet they all got holes in them looks a very open tournament.

Australia might be even peaking early for the event.

Although I do agree with Shanky that india are overrated but that only because india are 2nd - 3rd fav and priced 3.5/1 to 4/1.

Also looking at the world cup none of the knock out games are played in bouncier conditions apart from maybe the quarter final in Wellington so ICC are clearly trying their best to make sure most of the teams have a chance to win and conditions not really dictating the winners to much.

I highly doubt ICC wants India, Sri lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, England all struggling with the bounce and pace world cup been one sided and quite obvious which side is gonna win it or reach the final.
Apart from South Africa and Australia all the other teams struggle with pace and bounce especially the ones seen at the Waca or the Gabba.

At the moment I would say 5-6 teams got a chance to win the world cup or defeat the potential winner in Australia.
