Good game for Aus. The pressure (no small amount self imposed) was good experience for the big tournie upcoming. Aus' bowling at the end - last 15 overs or so - was very good.

I figure that Haddin is wrong, Aus are NOT guarranteed a spot in the finals yet - Ind and Eng have a game against Aus each and 2 against each other to go. They both beat Aus with a BP and share the other two, Aus are out, depending on NRR. Aus need another win to be guaranteed.

Warner :facepalm

TEMPERS flared in the one-day international at the MCG with Australian star David Warner confronting India’s Rohit Sharma about a cheeky overthrow and seeming to demand that he “speak English’’.

Who does he think he is because he speak English. Rohit Sharma knows to speak, read and write more languages than Warner. And showing language supremacy over Rohit. :facepalm Feel like giving him bad words now if allowed on this forum. Not only he showed what character he is when he punched Joe and other offences in matches, but he continues to be physically as well as verbally offensive. Now i think Rohit and Virat will do MC BC to him. Also get Praveen Kumar in team for sorting Warner on field.

If Warner told Rohit to "Speak English" then that is completely unacceptable and he should be heavily sanctioned.

Warner and a couple of the other Australians need to reign their necks in and let their batting and bowling do the talking.

And get Harbhajan Singh also

I am sure Rohit will have given him back already in Hindi when Warner provoked Rohit to which Rohit must have replied in Hindi. And then Warner not understanding it. :dunno

But still Rohit, Virat, Praveen Kumar and Harby should be played in next match to give it back more for starting it unnecessarily and teach him lesson once and for all.

Heh, I'm not sure selecting a side of aggressive sledgers is the way forward for India, but it's a funny idea. Maybe where ability is roughly equivalent they can decide the selection on capacity for verbal abuse.

Strange though possibly true, if CA don't ask Wee Davie to cut it out, maybe his agent will have a word so he doesn't damage his commercial contracts in India, particularly his IPL desirability. Indian cricket fans like being patronised as much as anyone else.

Yep old Warner seems to be quite the grump.

Oh well at least he's a great cricketer. He's got that.

It makes you wonder how many athletes actually enjoy their chosen sport during the event or only if they win. You see soccer players constantly shouting at each other and the refs, cricketers well we know all about those blokes. I think ping pong is up there with all the swearing during the points. Well I assume they are swearing at least in their language. Chess gets out of control to, but not nearly as much as checkers for some reason.

He is definitely more than annoying. I dont support his behavior in past and present. But he should not be forgiven because he does severe offences frequently to opponents. His behavior has reached a point that this needs to be sorted either on field by opponents whom he targets or by match officials. Last year you know what he did to your cricketer Joe. Next time he will target some other English cricketer. Why should everyone cricket fans and cricketers around world tolerate him frequently for abusing players we support . ?

I remember someone mimicking Roy Hodgson and he replied "I can speak seven fluid languages and you seem to have trouble speaking one".

Shame Sharma couldn't hit him with that one.

Well, that type of player thinks taking offence is a sign of weakness. He will have an idea that whatever works is fair game and if you can't take it, you should make way. His response to Trott leaving the Ashes was that he was weak. But that culture has a grip in the game, and it doesn't seem anyone is seriously opposing it. With perhaps debatable taste, Agnew rhetorically repeated Clarke's funeral speech in an interview, and got shellacked for it. Obviously, this message was coming from the wrong place. But I agree an opportunity has slipped away.

I'm not wishing to isolate Wee Davy here. England behave similarly, and are less likely to oppose boorish behaviour than ever. South Africa aren't any better.

Even some of our players are not saints. But nobody so far has gone hitting opponent players. I wonder how Joe's team mates tolerated Warner that time in bar. imo he is the worst of the current lot of aggressive players amongst all teams.

Pollard did throw bat towards Starc after Starc threw the ball on Pollards body in IPL match in 2014. Then something like this happened between Samules and Shane Warne in Big Bash 2013.

Warner might retort that I didn't invent the world, and to stop being a sanctimonious prig... But if his behaviour stops people from enjoying the game, then he'd probably be unjustified.

There has been some scuffling on the pitch. I think Dominic Cork was involved in something. Fighting between international players off the pitch is probably limited by the players not interacting much, but I imagine it isn't that uncommon.

Just because it has popped into my mind, I remember reading about Peter Willey keeping peace in the England dressing room by virtue of being easily the toughest person in the side. Which gives an idea about how harmonious England were back then.
