Publicly he should not tell the players flaws to media. It should happen in team meeting or nets practice session discussions etc. It needs to be within group discussion. I accept that view 100%.

One loss okay take positives, two also okay, third loss also it is okay to take positives. But England losing so many matches but just taking positives only all time. At least he should not accept defeat and continue taking only positives. And one win is not improvement, they need to win lot as they have to cover a lot of losses recently. It should not happen like an out of form batsman with prolonged bad patch become happy after one ton and go in bad patch again.

that's why I get frustrated ginger as I think the ability is there as well

Well, if we do get it right IF we reach the QF's, then they may surprise us.

I do tire of the 'taking positives' comment. Maybe more honesty.

Faulkner often seems to be expensive early in the innings. Key wicket today though.

its very much an example of by the book sports psychology , which is all about focussing on the positives , not cluttering the mind with negative thoughts etc etc

Maybe i understood your post wrong but are you meaning accepting problem is being negative?

imo they have to accept problem with their batting lineup as whole and that is actually a positive step than negative.

Does anyone else think the MCG is too big for most cricket matches? It looks a bit soulless when half full. A full MCG is of course a different matter.

if there is a technical issue then they would obviously try to deal with it but when it comes to approach and how they prepare players mentally then sports psychology is all about trying to avoid negative thoughts and to focus on the positive aspects

and this England team, as it was under flower, will be using that sort of scientific approach

I like it because in India we have small grounds with boundaries ranging from 58 mtrs onwards. So our batters have the challenge of adapting to ground size and adjusting strokes, pacing innings etc.
