I don't think you'd be looking to consolidate for twenty overs. I agree that putting pressure back on the opposition is worthwhile, but some players will be more able to do that than others. If India look to attack from a deficit, it looks like a plan. When England do it, it looks like desperation. Maybe they have to take into account their capacity when making a plan?

we do tho AC

I haven't checked this but they were talking on commentary and think they said that in game 1 we scored 70 runs between overs 15 and 35

I accept what you are saying that teams have to play within their limitations and ability but I just think we play too far within ours at times

It's a cricket truism that the biggest sin is not to bat out your overs. So maybe that notion should be ignored.

Well done to Shanky's boy.

The other problem is captain not wanting to improve. Cook was talking "All is well" script even when they were losing. Now Morgan is no different. He also is not worried about another loss.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/cricket/30851547

"England captain Eoin Morgan says the three-wicket tri-series loss to Australia is not a setback in his team's World Cup preparations. "

"One loss for us doesn't set us back over the next two months," Morgan told BBC Sport.

"We have to learn from it and move on."

Taking positives like Cook used to take and trying to mask another loss.

I don't know what a captain is supposed to say after a defeat? Also, what they say to the media, may, sorry, will not be what they say in the dressing room.

It's not one loss! I think that's 10/13! If anything, England are getting worse.

which is exactly what I mean when talking about mindset and intent adi

they may be saying different things behind the scenes but there doesn't seem to be an awareness or willingness to accept that other teams approach the game differently now and we have been left behind a bit

Looking at our top 7/8, I do think we have the players to help us score 300 plus. Just need a bit of consistency. It seems three or four will fail, nearly almost every match.
