They responded ok, the other day.

not really

we lost the game with 10 overs to spare

But from 39-4, or whatever it was. They done well to get to 230.

they did but it was still never enough

I just think we are too cautious whenever we lose early wickets AND wait too long before we try to accelerate which means we maybe keep things respectable but still lose

In general I agree, but when you lose 4 early wickets, most teams will bat with caution, just like we did. In that particular game, I thought we did recover well, but we lost the game early.

possibly

but doing so invites more pressure imo

Not as much as losing another wicket.

I'm sure you're right, I'm just wondering if it would be a case of sending Bopara out and telling him to bat like Dhoni.

commentators predicting a score of just over 300 here

I disagree , if Australia don't get some wickets soon 330-340 is on

is losing another wicket really any more costly to your chances of winning a game than scoring at 3 per over for 20 overs ?

I wasn't

I was comparing the attitude, approach and intent they play with

Rich, imo there is clear lack of quality and confidence in them in ODI format and affects attitude and approach. ? Why this lack i do not no. England cricket management should find the reason in cricketing system or whatever and find a solution to all this.

I don't really agree there is a lack of quality , there is definitely a cautious mindset and its something we have always had

Okay, we consider there is quality as you say. But if so, the question is why we not seeing quality when they bat.

imo Trott is missed by England a lot in ODI.

its a mindset thing I think a lot of the time

we play like we are trying not to lose , rather than playing as if we are trying to win

I don't think you'd be looking to consolidate for twenty overs. I agree that putting pressure back on the opposition is worthwhile, but some players will be more able to do that than others. If India look to attack from a deficit, it looks like a plan. When England do it, it looks like desperation. Maybe they have to take into account their capacity when making a plan?

Raina gone. A couple more wickets, and they may not get 250.
