I've heard that dr robert fella is a bit tasty with the willow. And Aidan of course, though the willow is made for his axe.

That looks like the likely XI. I would take Tredwell, just for variety more than anything else.

My problem with Tredwell is that once a batsmen goes after him he seems to have no answers.

He's quite economical, and takes wickets. I don't think you know what you're going to get from Finn.

Why in any circumstance would you move Ali away from opening and Taylor away from three? One of the few success stories the ODI team has had in recent years.

One of my three openers has to bat at three.

I know you're right, but a bit of a residual worry that he is weak against the short ball made me move him away from the new ball in Australia. I bet he could do a good job anywhere in the top seven.

If he weak against the short ball, doesn't matter if he's going to bat 1,2 or 3. Ali has brought something different to the top of England's order, and for the most part he's done it pretty well. His interview on cricinfo the other day where he talked about Bell's ability to hit boundries was fairly telling, he like having a bloke at the other end who can hit the ball and bat for a long time.

England finally have the semblance of a decentish ODI side, let's not muck about with it.

As an aside I do feel for Hales. He's had his chance ruined by the ECB and Cook, but sometimes that's how things go. I'm sure his Notts team mate Taylor can tell him all about it.
