When Eddie Howe took over as manager in December 2008 we were 10 points adrift at the bottom of League 2 after having a 17 point deduction at the start of the season and only just avoided going out of business completely. He lost his first two games I seem to remember but then went on a run which I believe ended in us being safe from the drop with one game to go. Plenty of time and games for Hartlepool to save themselves. Ronnie Moore is a good man to have at the helm in this situation, has had his ups and downs, but is well qualified to get you out of the mire.

Another win for Bradford, this time against fellow playoff chasing Notts County and their unbeaten away record has come to an end. A difficult game with a soft pitch that churned up as the game progressed. City creating plenty of decent chances in the 1st half but couldn't find the target to wayward shooting. Other than hiting the post and a shot narrowly going over the bar, Notts County barely threatened in front of goal but the last few minutes got a bit nervy when they pressed for an equaliser.

It was also the return of former players and "history makers" Gary Jones and Garry Thompson, getting a very warm reception from the fans and rightfully so.

Bradford end 2014 in 5th place with a 4pt gap in the playoffs, back in November this didn't seem possible.

The clearout has begun at Pools with Lanzoni, Schmeltz & Ironside all been released and I gather they aren't the only ones.

I hope we buy some decent replacements instead of relying on free cast-offs.

On the balance of things I find the punishment rather harsh for a few slurred words, especially when the Disciplinary Commission are satisfied Whelan is not racist. Suarez got a mere 3 matches more for using a racist phrase more than once with intent at Patrice Evra.
