Not easy keeping two talented spin bowlers happy so it's not a real surprise to see Rafiq leaving, I hope he does get regular 1st team opportunities with his new club.

@legsidelizzy: Peter Willey and George Sharp are taking the ECB to an employment tribunal. 1/2
@legsidelizzy: 2/2. They have both reached 65 and ECB force retirement at this age but employment law allows room for manoeuvre. Hence the tribunal

The fact that they're both crap umpires doesn't come into it.
This season just gets better and better.

Great. We'll have more seasons where Willey takes us of because he's heard there's a dark cloud over the Atlantic.

i'm not a fan of the age rule....if you are still good enough to umpire then you should be allowed to do it..

Murray Goodwin has announced his retirement. Not really unexpected news but still sad to see him go.

The argument for retirement at 65 years is that it creates a vacancy for younger aspiring umpires to enter the system just as vacances were created using this system to enable Willey and Sharp to come onto the 1st class list. These two took advantage to enter the system but aren't compliant when it's time for them to leave.
